Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

These terms cover your use of thecalmhome.co and the organizing services provided by The Calm Home Company (“we,” “us,” “our”), based in North Canton, Ohio. By booking a session or using this site, you’re agreeing to them.

Our services

We provide professional home organizing, decluttering, downsizing, estate cleanouts, and related support throughout Northeast Ohio. Every home and situation is different, so the specific scope of any project is agreed between us before work begins — during a discovery call, an in-home consultation, or in a written estimate.

We’re members of NAPO (National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals) and affiliated with the Institute for Challenging Disorganization. Our team is fully insured and background-checked.

Booking and scheduling

Sessions are scheduled by mutual agreement, through our online booking system, by phone, or by email. Our cancellation and rescheduling policy is confirmed with you when you book.

If we need to cancel or reschedule — due to illness, weather, or anything else — we’ll give you as much notice as we can and reschedule at no cost to you.

Pricing

Pricing for your project is provided in your estimate before work begins.

Estimates are good-faith projections based on what we can see at the time. Organizing projects sometimes reveal more work than expected. If it looks like a project will run meaningfully longer or cost meaningfully more than estimated, we’ll talk with you before continuing.

What we need from you

For us to do our work, we need safe access to your home during scheduled sessions, and someone available to make decisions about belongings — either you or someone you’ve authorized.

We’ll always ask before discarding, donating, or relocating anything. Nothing leaves your home without your say-so.

Your belongings

You keep ownership of everything in your home. Our role is to help you sort, decide, and set up systems — the decisions are yours.

Donations and disposal. When you ask us to remove items for donation or disposal, we’ll handle it as agreed. Once an item has left your home, it can’t be retrieved. Please be certain before you decide.

Valuables. Please secure cash, jewelry, prescription medication, firearms, irreplaceable documents, and anything of unusual sentimental or financial value before a session begins. We’re careful, but the safest place for those items is somewhere we aren’t working.

Found items. In estate and downsizing work we occasionally come across cash, documents, or valuables in unexpected places. We’ll set anything like that aside and bring it to your attention directly.

Insurance and liability

We carry business liability insurance and our team is background-checked. If something is damaged during a session, tell us as soon as you notice and we’ll work with you to make it right.

We aren’t responsible for pre-existing conditions in the home, items damaged because of how they were stored before we arrived, or outcomes that follow from a decision you asked us to carry out.

Health and safety

There are conditions we’re not equipped to handle safely — including biohazards, pest infestations, mold, and structural hazards. If we encounter something like that, we’ll stop, tell you plainly what we’re seeing, and help you find the right specialist.

We work with clients facing chronic disorganization and hoarding disorder, and we do it without judgment. But some situations need a clinical or remediation professional alongside us, and we’ll say so when that’s the case.

Photos

We sometimes take before-and-after photos of our work. We won’t publish, share, or use any photo of your home publicly without your explicit permission. If you’d rather we didn’t take photos at all, just say so — it changes nothing about the work.

Confidentiality

What we see in your home stays there. We don’t discuss clients’ homes, circumstances, or belongings outside our team.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version posted here at the time you book is the one that applies to that project.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio.
